Know when it's time to let go

'Respect yourself enough to walk away from anyone or anything that no longer serves you, grows you or makes you happy'

If I had a penny for every time I have held on to someone or something that no longer made me happy, I would be ridiculously rich by now. Whether it has been a good for nothing cheating ex or faded friendships, there are many things I look back on and wonder why on earth I didn't let go a lot sooner than I actually did.

One of the worst extremes was finding out an ex partner got his ex pregnant whilst we were together

As sad and hurtful as this (and all the  BS and drama that came with it) was, did I let go? Nope! I stayed and convinced myself I could forgive and deal with. That situation was tough. Actually, 'tough' doesn't quite cut it. It was unbelievably painful and it had me feeling low for a very long time. The question is, 'why didn't I just walk away?' Was I in love with him? No. Did I want to marry him? Double No! Was he painfully good looking? HELL NO! Lol. There is only one answer really. I was stupid!  When I look back at that situation now, I can't understand my actions. They're unjustifiable. Inexcusable. Dumb!

A lesson I have learned in recent times is to let go when something makes you unhappy. Just breathe out and loosen your grip. Sometimes you have to let go and when you eventually find the courage to do so, you may just find there was nothing worth holding on to. Letting go means change, change means uncertainty and uncertainty can be scary!

Don't be afraid of letting go. Things often work out for the best when you let go. You make room for better things in your life. If s/he or it no longer makes you smile and does not enhance your life in any way, LET GO! x
